Preveterinary is a nondegree-granting designation available to freshmen and sophomores, which gives students access to the information, people and resources to prepare for application to veterinary school.
Students must choose a degree-granting major after completing 56 credit hours, including transfer credits. After declaring a major, they must meet with their major adviser while remaining in contact with prevet advisers, who will provide continued guidance in preparing for a competitive application to vet school.
Students with the preveterinary designation often complete an undergraduate degree in animal science, integrative biology or other life sciences prior to going on to veterinary school.

Minimum English requirements
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet-based test: score of 79 with no sub score below 17; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Regular admission: Score of 6.5 or higher; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Minimum score of 53; minimum sub score requirement of 48.
