For credentialed music therapists with an articulated area of clinical specialization who want to develop research skills, this degree allows you to design a program of study based on your specific areas of interest. Course work and dissertation topics can be drawn from qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods options. You can complete this program by studying on a full-time or part-time basis.
Your Academic Experience
As a doctoral student in this degree, you will complete two foundations classes designed to broaden your access to knowledge outside your area of specialization. Courses in this category are based on current scholarship in the arts, humanities, sciences and/or social sciences, and should be applicable to common issues in your area of focus and profession. You will also complete cognate course work – classes outside your area of specialization or that combine music with another academic discipline.

You must have the equivalent of a four-year US bachelor's degree to be considered for admission.
Test of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TOEFL): Scores are valid for two years from the date taken. Successful candidates score a 100 on the Internet based exam or 600 on the paper based exam.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Official scores are valid for two years from the date taken. Successful candidates achieve a band score of 7.
Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic): Official scores are valid for two years from the date taken. Successful candidates score a 68 to 70.
