The School of Human Sciences offers graduate programs leading to a Ph.D. in Education-Health Education, a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.), a concurrent M.P.H./Ph.D. in Health Education open to persons with a previous master's degree in a field other than public health, and an M.P.H./M.D. (must first be admitted to the SIU School of Medicine). Persons interested in pursuing any of these degrees should initially consult the Director of Graduate Studies regarding appropriate courses and assignment to an advisor.
The Ph.D. in Education - Health Education program participates in the School of Education doctoral program in health education. In addition to general requirements of the Graduate School and of the School of Education for all Ph.D. programs, the Ph.D. in Education - Health Education program requires satisfactory completion of PH 512, PH 513, PH 515, PH 525, PH 533B, PH 597, PH 598, and QUAN 506. Each student in conjunction with their committee chair selects elective courses required for the degree. The successful completion of EDUC 505, EAHE 587, and one additional course in quantitative or qualitative methods is required for fulfillment of the research tool for students in the Ph.D. in Education - Health Education program. A minimum of a B average is required in all Ph.D. in Education - Health Education courses.
