Students gain advanced knowledge of analytical, organic, physical, inorganic, or biological chemistry, as well as the qualitative and quantitative skills necessary for professional research and teaching in pesticide and toxicant chemistry, food/meat/dairy chemistry, fiber and polymer chemistry, and enzymatic reactions and fermentation chemistry.
The Graduate Group in Agricultural & Environmental Chemistry offers programs of study and research leading to the Ph.D. degrees in four areas: (1) Environmental & Analytical Chemistry, (2) Biological & Toxicological Chemistry, (3) Food & Wine Chemistry, and (4) Fiber & Polymer Chemistry.

Consideration for admission to the PhD program requires a bachelor’s degree, three letters of recommendation, official transcripts, TOEFL or IELTS score (if applicable) and an Office of Graduate Studies online application with fee by the stated admission deadline. An MS degree is not required for admission to the PhD program.
