The School of Counseling, Human Performance, and Rehabilitation (CHPR) provides a quality education to a heterogeneous student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The goal is to prepare students with the special knowledge and skills for professional work in education and human service fields, and to enhance students’ abilities to be successful in their chosen fields of study.
Welcome to the UALR Counselor Education program. The Master of Education in Counselor Education (CNSL) prepares students to work as school counselors at the PK-12 levels or with adults in higher education/adult education settings. The program is theory based and practice oriented.
Graduation Requirements:
The exit requirements for the M.Ed. degree in Counselor Education are:
Completion of 36-48 credit hours in an approved program of study
Successful completion of comprehensive examination

Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (4.0 scale)
or
Grade point average of at least 3.0 for the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate courses
All international students must provide an official score on either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS).
On the TOEFL, applicants must achieve a score of 525 on the paper-based test, 197 on the computer-based version, or 71 on the Internet-based version.
On the IELTS, all applicants must make at least a 6.5.
