The Master of Accounting program is designed to meet the needs of accountants in public or private accounting focusing on interpreting and analyzing accounting information for decision-making. This program allows undergraduate accounting majors to complete an advanced degree while pursuing the additional hours needed to meet the 150 hour requirement in most states to become a Certified Public Accountant. Graduates comply with the Iowa Standards for Certification upon passing the Uniform Certified Public Accounting examination.
Our Master of Accounting faculty is respected nationally and has been making a difference as editors and co-editors of the top journals in their areas of expertise. Our accounting faculty host annual training conferences for continuing education credits and provide external consulting. These external experiences provide a link for our students from the classroom to real-world practice.
Learning Goals that students in this program are expected to meet include:

Iowa State requires a bachelor’s or higher degree from a regionally-accredited college or university prior to beginning graduate studies.
International degrees must be comparable to a US bachelor’s degree or higher from a college or university regionally accredited/recognized by the Ministry of Education in that country.
ISU Accounting majors with a 3.25 GPA or better and all grades in required accounting course are B or better do not need to take GMAT.

Application Deadlines: Fall term - May 1st, Spring term - Oct 1st, summer term - April 1st. International students should apply at least three months before the start of term they are applying for.
