Health law is an evolving and growing area of specialized legal practice. The Health Law LLM program provides students with a strong, interdisciplinary curriculum in U.S. health law and policy, covering topics such as telemedicine and FDA law, competition in health care, medical malpractice, bioethics, health care employment law, and Medicare and Medicaid fraud.
As the only Health Law LLM program on the west coast, we offer rich opportunities for learning, externships, research and scholarship. Courses are taught by both leading scholars and industry practitioners, who bring a deep level of expertise and access to opportunities generated by Seattle-based health leaders, including PATH, Seattle Children's Hospital and the University of Washington health and hospital system. Students may also augment their course of study by taking classes at other top-rated graduate schools at UW, including public health, medicine, pharmacy and public policy.
EXPANSIVE CURRICULUM, COUNTLESS OPPORTUNITIES
Our broad contemporary curriculum allows students to focus their studies in U.S. health law, global health and sustainable international development, genomics and biotechnology, or alternatively to sample from all three of these areas of curricular strength. The majority of our health law faculty have concurrent appointments in one or more other schools and departments across the University. As a result, our students have access to many learning and research opportunities flowing from the multidisciplinary programs and research networks that our faculty members participate in.
