The coursework for Thunderbird's graduate certificate in global trade and commerce is tightly integrated and offers comprehensive coverage of core topics in cross-border business and the exchange of goods. Students gain a strong understanding of how companies leverage their global value chains to achieve competitive advantage. Graduates of the global technology and development program pursue impactful and rewarding careers in international development across all sectors, working for government agencies, non-governmental organizations, non-profits, educational institutions, private businesses and corporations. Learning outcomes and skills include research, writing, analysis, and the ability to understand the complexity of diverse cultural, social and political contexts. These skills and abilities transfer to a myriad of career pathways, since they are in demand from organizations across industries. From the School for the Future of Innovation in Society's 2021 alumni employment survey, 100% of master's degree program respondents are either employed or pursuing continuing education. Of those respondents employed, 62% have jobs directly related to their degree. Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree, in any field, from a regionally accredited institution.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program, or applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in an applicable master's degree program.
English language proficiency requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Score of at least 550 (pBT) or 80 (iBT); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall band score of the academic test of at least 6.5; Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Score of at least 60; Duolingo English test - Graduate minimum score of 105.
