This program will prepare you for dual initial teacher licensure in the State of New Jersey in two areas: Elementary and Teacher of Students with Disabilities. You’ll be equipped with the tools and skills needed to foster inclusive learning environments that are conducive to young children, adolescents, and uniquely-abled individuals. In addition to learning culturally responsive practices, you’ll also learn teaching philosophies according to local, state, and national trends.
You’ll have the chance to deepen your knowledge by choosing a co-major in one of the following areas:
English
Mathematics
Biology
History
Art
Psychology (For P-3 & K-6 only)
As soon as you enter the program, you’ll gain real-world experience by observing students in the classroom, developing lesson plans, and eventually, teaching the students yourself. You’ll be placed in both general and special education settings, developing a profound and compassionate understanding of how students from different backgrounds and with different abilities learn.
You can complete this program within four years through either a traditional, cohort, or working adult model in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Education guidelines.
