Education Sciences

The MS program in education sciences prepares educational research professionals to address contemporary problems in many educational settings. Students learn to use quantitative analysis and optimized research design to address important issues in education policy and practice. Coursework in the program focuses on scientifically valid research designs, data management, data mining and quantitative data analysis all at intermediate to advanced levels. The accompanying research apprenticeship allows students to integrate coursework into their professional experiences, enriching their ability to understand and solve complex education challenges. The supervised research project and internship places students in a research institute, business or agency. This combined project and internship model provides graduates with integrated, relevant experience designed to open opportunities for career advancement. Working students may be able to arrange for an existing job to serve as their internship site. This program is ideal for individuals currently working in or interested in social science research centers, school districts, state or federal agencies, university research centers, foundations, educational testing companies and any industry that focuses on employee education and outcomes. This MS program qualifies for the STEM OPT extension for students studying on F-1 visas.

To be admitted to ASU, you must have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an international institution that is officially recognized by that country.

Competitive applicants typically have a “B” (3.00 on a 4.00 scale) grade point average in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework. If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirements, your application may still be considered by the department.

English language proficiency requirements

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Score of at least 80 on the TOEFL iBT

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall band score of the academic test of at least 6.5

Pearson Test of English (PTE): Score of at least 60

Duolingo English test: Graduate minimum score of 105
