Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Genetics

Estados Unidos

¿Qué aprenderé?

A hub of deep expertise, the Department of Human Genetics helps partners across UCLA interpret data and leverage genomic technology to improve study design and solve medical problems.

We demystify genetic complexities to provide vital insights for a range of clinical and research applications. We strive to improve the care of as many patients as possible by pushing our capabilities, developing novel ways to address unanswered questions.

The statistical genetics course will cover state-of-the-art statistical methods for detection of genetic loci influencing complex traits. Each day will include discussions of analysis theory and hands-on computer exercises, focusing on the Mendel statistical genetics package. We will stress interpretation of results and emphasize the practical aspects needed to give the best chances of success. The course is designed for people who are actively studying the genetics of complex traits. No prior experience with these methods is necessary.
