Within the State of Kansas, Career and Technical Education instructors are often hired from business and industry. The strongest asset they possess is the work experience in their occupational area. What they are lacking are the specific teaching skills to share their knowledge and skills with students. The Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Education (BSCTE) is designed to provide specialized teacher education for these individuals. Past students are teaching in the following programs: automotive, diesel, machining, culinary arts, health occupation, construction, welding, auto-collision, cosmetology, electrical, electronics, heavy equipment operator, environmental water/waste water, graphic design, certified nursing assistant, and business and marketing.

Private Sector Teaching Emphasis of the curriculum is designed for persons who have completed a career and technical education program in an accredited public sector institution who have less than two years of work experience above the learner's level in one of the industrial or technical occupations taught in Kansas.
Public Sector Teaching Emphasis of the curriculum is designed to provide specialized teacher education for persons teaching or preparing to teach in trade and industrial and technical programs.

High School Academic Records: A minimum GPA (grade point average) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in high school and have earned a high school diploma
International College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in an accredited international post secondary institution (college/university)
U.S. College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) if transferring from an accredited U.S. college with at least 24 credit hours (approximately one year of college work)
English Language Requirement
TOEFL: TOEFL score of at least 520 (paper) or 68 (internet) is required. In addition, a minimum score of 15 is required in each section (internet).
IELTS: Overall score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 5.0. in each band of the IELTS is required. If a lower score is earned in any of the five band scores, the overall score cannot be accepted.
PTE: Overall score of 47.
