As a sociology major, you will use scientific methods to study societies and social groups, uncovering how we relate to one another and how we can make peoples’ lives better. By developing strong research and evaluation skills, you’ll be prepared for most any kind of leadership position, whether in the for-profit or nonprofit realm. And you’ll also be ready to make a difference in the world by creating more equitable communities.

COMMUNITY ORGANIZING
This concentration gives you many opportunities to connect classroom studies with service-oriented learning experiences, helping you develop your community-leadership skills at the same time. You’ll be prepared to bring members of an area together in order to bring about social change and improve various aspects of a community.
SOCIAL RESEARCH
If you plan to go on to graduate school, this is an excellent concentration for you. You will work with professors to do real-world research, including designing studies; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data; and reporting the findings.
