The study of human biology combines the natural and social sciences.
Responding to the global need for more skilled professionals in health, social and environmental sciences, and public policy, the department of anthropology and the School of Biological Sciences offer an interdisciplinary bachelor of arts degree in human biology.
Featuring rigorous study of the natural and social sciences, this interdisciplinary program prepares graduates for a wide variety of career options in medical and health sciences, social work and support, development and analysis of public policy, and more. Students aspiring to go on to pre-professional programs such as medical school or veterinary school may choose to major in human biology.
The human biology program melds approaches and content from social and biological sciences to provide a vibrant, synthetic understanding of the roles of culture, the dynamics of natural and social systems, and the biological attributes responsible for shaping the human being.
The major requires at least 20 credits each in anthropology and biology. In addition, students take courses in chemistry, history, human behavior, social sciences, genetics and evolution.
The four-year program is offered on both the Vancouver and Pullman campuses.
