B.A. in Art History

Estados Unidos

¿Qué aprenderé?

The WKU Department of Art offers paths to explore, experience, and expand the possibilities of artistic expression, an indispensable part of human society.

Whether you envision yourself building a professional studio practice, pursing a career in graphic communications, teaching art at a primary or secondary school, or exploring a world of art history, we're ready to help you reach your goals.

With programs that vary in length and concentration, the WKU Department of Art supports and challenges students along a variety of life-enriching paths.

Our range of BA programs in art education, art history, and studio art introduce our students to a variety of career paths that benefit from studies in the visual arts.

Whatever path you choose, you will be working with energetic art professionals who have gained national and international recognition in their respective fields. Our faculty introduce students to a world of art by hosting visiting professionals, traveling with students to conferences and exhibitions, and leading study-abroad programs around the globe.

Art history classes explore the relationship between art objects and the historical, multicultural, intercultural, philosophical, and scientific developments specific to the era in which they were created. The survey classes (ART 105 and ART 106) concentrate upon developments in aesthetics, process, and iconography. Upper-level classes examine these issues in greater detail, but give greater emphasis to methodology, theory, and variation.
