This course is offered as a degree with foundation year - a four-year programme which provides an additional foundation year at the beginning of the degree, that will give you academic and practical experience, as well as the skills you need to ensure you are equipped to successfully complete your chosen degree.During the foundation year:Take modules in Maths which will develop your core academic and study skills.The syllabus includes a year-long module relevant to your chosen degree subject, such as Digital Literacy and Computational Thinking. This will provide you with a subject specific knowledge in Computer Science which is essential for success in your degree.Our BSc Web Design and Development blends technical and creative skills into one package, teaching you software development and web design skills. In your first year, you will develop programming skills and the ability to work with existing data. Additionally, you will gain a critical understanding of digital media and skills in image editing and developing website prototypes. Throughout the degree, you will continue to hone software development and data analysis skills. You will also understand what makes a positive, engaging and impactful website or mobile app for users.After the first year, you can take optional modules based on your career ambitions, such as strategic digital communication, digital gaming, animation and creativity, project management and digital storytelling. You will also learn core cyber security skills related to organisational resilience.Between Year 2 and Year 3, you can undertake an industrial placement year, allowing you to gain valuable work experience relevant to your career aspirations. We deliver all computing programmes in an active blended learning style, with most lectures replaced by workshops and seminars. Our approach provides a learning environment focused on collaborative working in practical lab spaces, immersed in an environment based on working in the IT industry.

Students should have UCAS entry tariff 300+ ONE of the following. High School Diploma minimum CGPA 2.8/3.0 + SAT 1100 Reading and Mathematics (2016 test) and a score of 550 if taking the optional Essay plus 1 SAT Subject Test with a score of 550 or above; High School Diploma minimum CGPA 2.8/3.0 + 2 APs with a score of 3 or above; High School Diploma minimum CGPA 2.8/3.0 + ACT score of 26 (ACT code no. 7809).Students should include any SAT/AP/ACT exam results in their application if they have already taken the tests.
