The BSc (Hons) Property Development and Planning (PDP) degree is a hybrid course offering a blend ofthree well established professions; surveying, property development and planning consultancy andprepares you for a range of careers as a built environment professional.Surveyors, planning consultants and developers are essential for managing, planning andimplementing development and regeneration and there is demand for skilled professionals whounderstand planning policy, urban design and place making and can promote and manageproperty development through to its disposal. The BSc (Hons) Property Development andPlanning programme reflects the interconnectedness between these different professions and isdesigned to provide a wide range of subject knowledge from the identification of developmentopportunities and understanding land acquisition, through the planning process and design stage,determine viability (planning and financial) to bring forward development and manage, or disposeof, a completed asset. The inter-relationship between planning, surveying and developmentprovides the core theme throughout the programme and forms the basis for the applied projects.The course provides a rounded education and training in planning, property development andsurveying professional areas and enables a student to function and survive most effectively in thecourse of their professional career.This course will enable you to:● develop an awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the various actors in the process ofproperty development, and the motivation of these actors in developing and managingintervention in many different contexts.● establish a critical awareness of the theories and processes emanating from both the planningand property professions;● develop an understanding of the rationale underpinning the motivation of property professionalsto value, manage and develop land.● develop an understanding of the ideological and pragmatic need for planning professionals tointervene in defence of the public realm along with their recognition of the wider environmentaland social costs of development.● increase knowledge of society's needs for more intensified use of land and the constraintsimposed through planning control upon this process in consideration of environmental concernsand the values and needs of different groups in society.● develop transferable skills in communication (written, verbal and graphic), in informationtechnology, and in negotiation and managerial approaches to managing the built environment.● develop professionalised skills and awareness appropriate to significant areas of planning andproperty development practice.

High School Diploma with minimum of 3.0 GPA plus ONE of the following: Combined SAT score from 1700 (old scale) or 1220 (new scale); 3 Advanced Placement (AP) tests with a score of 3+; ACT average score between 27 and 30. We may also accept a High School Graduation Diploma with GPA 2.5 onto our International Foundation Diploma and integrated 4-year programmes. IELTS 6.0 overall with 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking.
