This course equips you with the knowledge and skills to advance your career and develop an evidence-based, person-centred culture.

There are different pathways open to you, enabling you to enhance your personal, professional and academic development in one of these fields:

Nursing (general), Education, Practice (Gastro), Practice (Neuroscience), Practice (Tissue Viability), Practice, Research.

You will:

  • Learn how to influence future nursing practice, education and research for the benefit of patient care
  • Have the opportunity to complete a clinical placement
  • Develop a mastery of contemporary nursing knowledge and practice

TEACHING:

A range of teaching strategies is used including seminars, lectures, action learning, online learning, directed study, practice-based assessments and peer-supported learning.

ASSESSMENT:

A range of formative and summative assessments will cater to your individual learning style. These include:

  • Oral assessments
  • Dragons Den style viva
  • Written theoretical assignments
  • Papers prepared for dissertation and publication
  • Practice-based assessments

Students can also exit with PGDip and PGCert Awards

Requerimiento de entrada

Bachelor's/professional bachelor's degree holders (when awarded by a regionally-accredited institution) with a general GPA of 2.75 or above will be considered for postgraduate study. We require an IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.

Para estudiantes internacionales

Students must be a qualified nurse with a Bachelor’s degree with honours from a UK University or an equivalent academic or professional qualification from the UK or elsewhere, i.e. incorporating study at least comparable to 120 credits at level 6. For admission onto the MSc Nursing: Practice (Neuroscience) pathway, applicants will need a professional qualification and be registered with a relevant professional body. Applicants need relevant prior or current experience of neuroscience care provision. We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully. If you are an international student and not from a majority English speaking country, you will need IELTS 6.0 with no element below 5.5. TOEFL IBT and TOELF IBT (home edition): 79 overall including minimum listening - 17; reading - 18; writing - 17; speaking - 20.
