About this course
Master 2 modern languages that play a key role on the world stage, choosing from French, German or Spanish. You'll start at undergraduate level and get a master’s in 4 years with this integrated master's degree.
Spend a year of this 4 year degree on a placement at a university abroad. Develop your language skills while learning about another country's culture, history and thought.
You can choose one language you have not studied. You'll get extra hours of teaching and a language course abroad at the end of year 1 to make fast progress.
Whichever languages you choose, you'll:
- become immersed in the languages and familiar with how they are spoken
- develop your critical thinking and gain the skills to interpret cultures
- study a society or cultures where the languages are spoken
- write a disseration on a topic that you are interested in
Choose topics and gain expertise in areas that interest you most, including:
- translation and interpreting
- contemporary society
- literature and film
- ethnography
- politics.

We also focus on developing your employability skills throughout your time with us. This includes a compulsory module in your first year.
