The events industry has a huge impact on the economy. In 2019, business and leisure events in the UK contributed more than £70bn of direct spend and provided jobs for 700,000 people – and is now considered a key industry to economic growth post COVID-19 (UK Events Report 2020).

You will learn both about the historical and socio-cultural development of events as well as how events are planned, produced and tailored to local, national and international audiences. You will also focus on the strategic issues of event management such as ethics, event sustainability and how to respond to environmental forces impacting on the events sector.
