Develop your individual practice in the diverse, supportive and critically engaged studio environment on our MA Fine Art course. You’ll have your own dedicated studio space to experiment with new materials and techniques. Here you’ll expand the range of your creative practice, hone existing skills, and consolidate your own artistic position.
You can study this course full-time or part-time depending on what works best for you. You’ll have weekly contact with staff and regular opportunities to exhibit your work in project spaces and public galleries.
Through seminars and group feedback, you'll define your own artistic position in relation to key theoretical, cultural and political debates of the 21st century. Through workshops, you'll have access to facilities for:
- printmaking
- sculpture
- digital media
- 3D printing
If you're considering PhD research, then our MA Fine Art course will help ensure you're fully prepared. Winchester School of Art has exciting collaborations with several scientific departments including the Biomedical Imaging Unit, National Oceanography Centre, and Web Science Institute. This makes it ideal if you're interested in exploring interdisciplinary practices.
You’ll have the opportunity to take regular field trips to current exhibitions by leading international artists. This course works closely with the John Hansard Gallery in Southampton, which is a university partner and one of the UK’s leading contemporary art galleries.
