WELSH

You will develop high level language skills with the aim of achieving competencies close to a native standard together with a detailed knowledge of aspects of culture, history, politics and society in Italy. You will spend your third year in Italy, practicing and developing your language skills.
We offer Italian to advanced level students and beginners. In terms of language acquisition, this course will enable you to develop your writing, oral and listening skills through a variety of learning activities, and using a variety of audio-visual materials. In your first year, in addition to your language lessons, an introduction to history and culture will aim to provide a solid foundation for more specialized studies as you follow your course.
It is important to remember that studying languages does not mean studying the language and nothing else. It involves looking at many aspects of the country and its culture, social structures and institutions, politics, history, literature and cinema. By studying such areas you are able to gain a better understanding of Italian culture and how it has evolved over the centuries, becoming what it is today.
