Introduction
BA (Hons) Art Practice focuses on practical art and critical-contextual skills. The programme is built on traditional skills delivered by expert practitioners. This is considered to be different from many other 'fine art' based degree programmes. The communication of subject matter and concepts through media and processes is delivered in parallel with critical-contextual skills.
The modules build a cohesive study of workshop development (print, 3D and photography), artist studio methodology, theme/concept development skills and 'live' briefs and academic studies of contextual themes. This is supported by an introduction to research and writing skills, with all students learning to develop their ideas through practice and research.
The application of collaborative, live and experiential modules, which promote breadth and potential career development. Practitioner and creative industry connections will be forged. Collaborative practice and live project modules at levels 4 and 5 will involve both centrally organised and independently planned visiting of professionals and site visits. These will be from a mix of creative pathways to develop understanding and application of creative methodology and commercial application.
