Our programme aims to equip students with the skills required to explore and evaluate a variety of health science topics, using one or more specific applied health disciplines as a focus point. These include Public Health, Global Health, Human Nutrition, and Health Economics. With a wide range of courses to choose from, you can tailor your qualification to your research interests and career aspirations.

The programme has been designed with flexibility in mind giving students various entry routes to the programme.

Direct entry to the PgCert, PgDip or MSc programmes, Use credits earned from our On-Demand short courses towards the PgCert, PgDip or MSc award, Option to transfer from other relevant Institute of Applied Health Sciences postgraduate programmes e.g. students studying the PgCert in Research Methods for Health can use their credits towards the PgDip or MSc.

Our MSc Applied Health Sciences is designed for clinicians and other healthcare professionals looking to build towards a certified postgraduate qualification. Excellent training will be provided to enhance your skills and career prospects in public policy, healthcare delivery, healthcare management or research. Arts/Humanities/Business/Social Sciences: For entry to the Master of Arts (MA) programme, students should have a minimum of: High School GPA of 3.0 Plus one of the following standardised tests: SAT score of 1250 (post-March 2016), with 600 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, OR ACT composite score of 26. Entry to a Master of PhD programme usually requires the equivalent of a 2:1 (Upper Second Class Honours) British degree, or a 2:2 (Lower Second Class) British Degree. Bachelor’s degree (GPA: 3.0+) from an accredited university or college in a relevant subject. Postgraduate programmes at the University of Aberdeen and other British universities do not generally require standardised tests such as the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT etc. Instead, applicants are assessed on the merit and relevance of their undergraduate studies, as well as references and personal statement. IELTS overall score - 6.5, Listening - 5.5 or above, Reading - 5.5 or above, Speaking - 5.5 or above, Writing - 6.0 or above, TOEFL iBT overall score - 90, Listening - 17 or above, Reading - 18 or above, Speaking - 20 or above, Writing - 21 or above.

A health-related honours degree (a 2:2 or at least 60%) or be able to demonstrate evidence of equivalent experience in healthcare practice or research. We also consider applications from students with a pure science, social science or a humanities first degree who have a keen interest in health.
