If you have always wanted to combine your enterprising spirit and big heart, you could be the next social entrepreneur to help make life better for someone. What better way to kick off your quest for a better world than by joining the Diploma in Business & Social Enterprise (BZSE) to learn the ropes of starting and managing a social enterprise?
Throughout the course, you will get to execute projects with social enterprises and voluntary welfare organizations. You will also get an opportunity to embark on a five-week Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) in Hong Kong, Lingnan University, where you will study a core module and work on a service learning project.
In the first two years of your course, you will study the different aspects of starting and managing a business with a social mission. You will cover areas such as enterprise creation and development, accounting, marketing and human resource management. At the same time, you will gain insights into various social and environmental issues, and brainstorm innovative social and business solutions to address those issues.
To wrap up your learning journey, you will acquire knowledge on how successful businesses and social enterprises can innovate in order to meet the changing demands of their industries. In your final year, you will also study what it means for businesses to be well-governed and socially responsible.
What's more, you will embark on your own social enterprise project or intern with companies and government agencies such as DBS Bank, Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). Alternatively, you can choose to intern with Dialogue in the Dark (DiD) Singapore where you get to build on both management skills and empathy as you work alongside the visually-impaired.
