Programme highlights

Are you looking to develop your qualifications further in health and wellbeing?

This programme will give you the additional skills and knowledge to provide and implement advanced and personalised support to people with complex needs.

As you build your knowledge you will develop the expertise you need to take on higher leadership roles within your workplace. If you have completed the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) or work in the health and wellbeing industry, this qualification could be for you.

Advance your health care career and become a senior caregiver, senior health care assistant or senior support worker in acute care, hospices or specialised dementia units, aged residential care or home and community support settings.

You will complete a minimum of 200 hours of work experience on a placement arranged and managed by your clinical placement coordinator.

Career opportunities

Graduates of this qualification may be employed as a health care assistant, senior caregiver, senior health care assistant or
senior support worker in acute care, hospices or specialised dementia units, aged residential care or home and community support settings.

Programme structure

You will need to complete the below four courses (70 credits):

724.430 Effective service delivery (18 credits)

724.431 Working collaboratively in a health or wellbeing setting (22 credits)

724.432 Supporting a person with complex needs: Dementia (16 credits)

724.433 Risk management and leadership in a health or wellbeing setting (14 credits)

Further training or study

The qualification may lead to further study at Level 5, or bachelor's degrees in related health and wellbeing subject areas. It may also lead into leadership and management roles.

Applicants for this qualification will need to provide evidence of the following:

New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) in Health Assistance or Support Work strand; or
An equivalent qualification or experience in the health and wellbeing sectors.

Entry requirements vary from country to country.

IELTS test: Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 530 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge English Examinations: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill; OET at Grade C in all sub-tests; Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36.
