¿Qué aprenderé?

Complete a second masters degree in an Arts subject.

Programme overview

The MLitt is an alternative to the PhD if you already have a masters degree and want to complete a substantial research project. You can complete an MLitt in most subjects offered by the Faculty of Arts, subject to approval and availability of supervision. You may be able to further your research interests in the same subject as your first masters degree, or undertake research in a new area.

Programme structure

120-point thesis

One year of full-time study or up to two years of consecutive part-time study

Latin:

Latin was the language of the ancient Romans, and for 1500 years the principal international language of Europe.

Subject overview

The Romans left literature of enduring importance in poetry, drama, satire, history and philosophy. Learning Latin allows you to read this literature in its original form, gaining a deeper understanding of Roman culture and many modern languages, including English.

Where can Latin take you?

Latin is an intellectual discipline. Our graduates have moved on to careers in journalism, teaching, public relations and human resources.

Where could this programme take you?

An MLitt could be useful for a range of academic or professional careers, especially if you don’t want to undertake doctoral study.
