Lincoln University’s Master of Landscape Architecture is an opportunity for graduates with an accredited Bachelor of Landscape Architecture to expand their landscape architecture education, by looking deeper into theory and practice.
This degree is accredited by the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA). Graduates are eligible to become registered professionals and are highly sought-after in public and private sectors in Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia and further afield.
Programme Structure:
The thesis-based Master of Landscape Architecture is usually a 12-month, 120 credit programme.
Lincoln’s MLA (both examination and thesis) is open to graduates of other disciplines. You will follow the first two semesters of the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) then transfer to the MLA. This option requires 120 credits of coursework, and 120 credits of research (totally 240 credits). The 240-credit MLA is an accredited qualification.

Entrance to the Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) is for graduates of an accredited Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.
BLA graduates with a first or second class degree with division one Honours are eligible for direct entry to the MLA (both taught and thesis-based).
BLA graduates without Honours or with second class division two honours will normally have to complete a bridging programme comprising the Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Studies, reaching a minimum B average.
If you’re intending to undertake a thesis, you should achieve a B+ average in the Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Studies.
