Bachelor of Professional Creative Practice (Honours) programme is collaboratively offered by EIT’s two iconic creative practice schools: IDEA school and Toihoukura. It offers a unique perspective from both the European and Maori creative culture allowing a wide selection of media to be advanced.

Bachelor of Professional Creative Practice (Honours) [Level 8] provides the opportunity for you to gain a postgraduate qualification, create an effective and professional body of creative work, make it publicly available and speak professionally about that work based on in depth and broad research.

Outline

Delivery of the programme is “blended”. That is, it is a combination of online study, wananga and research by creative practice. You may be “based” at either IDEA school in Hawke’s Bay or Toihoukura in Tairawhiti but will have opportunities to engage with staff and students based at both schools, as well as students who may be practicing throughout Aotearoa and indeed the world.

The 120 credit programme is a full year of study at Level 8, consisting of three compulsory courses that will build on your knowledge, skills, and attributes gained in your undergraduate degree in visual arts and design.

Career Opportunities and Outcomes

As a graduate, career opportunities can included advancement in creative practice/creative industries, self-employment/entrepreneurship, academic positions in creative practice, gallery owner, curator and the ability to strengthen te toi Maori within a contemporary Maori context.

Graduates of Te Hono ki Toi (Poutiri-a-rangi) | Bachelor of Professional Creative Practice (Honours) may apply to complete the Te Hono ki Toi (Poutiriao) | Master of Professional Creative Practice [Level 9].
