¿Qué aprenderé?

This field of study prepares the nursing student to design and conduct scientific research which strengthened their theoretical foundation of nursing practice and healthcare delivery and practice. The central focus of nursing research is to improve the health of populations, clients, and their families. The four core nursing research themes at UPM Nursing Unit represent research strength and experience of academic staff. These include critical care nursing, community health nursing, paediatric nursing, and medical surgical nursing. Overall, improving nursing knowledge and skills based on evidence, forms the basis of nursing research.

Programme outcomes

Programme outcomes at the end of this program, graduates are able to:

Synthesise knowledge and contribute to original research that broadens the frontier of knowledge in the relevant field.

Adapt practical skills leading to innovative ideas in the relevant field.

Provide expert advice to society in the relevant field.

Conduct research independently and adhere to legal, ethical and professional codes of practice.

Display leadership qualities through communicating and working effectively with peers and stakeholders.

Appraise problems in the relevant field critically using scientific skills, and;

Integrate information for lifelong learning.

The applicant should possess: a Master Degree (with coursework) in a relevant field with a minimum grade average of B, or a Master Degree with thesis in a relevant field, or an outstanding Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.750 (such an applicant may apply direct admission even without a Master Degree). Admission into the programme is subject to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute. An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements. English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 6.0; Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), Paper Based - 550; 400 for Band 4.0 only for Malay language, Arabic, Chinese Literature, internet-based test (IBT)- 79-80.
