The Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP) (erstwhile The Faculty of Resource Economics and Agribusiness) was first established in January 1974, as the fourth faculty in Universiti Putra Malaysia (erstwhile Universiti Pertanian Malaysia). It was established in response to the needs for competent professionals in the fields of Agribusiness and Resource Economics.

This field focuses on providing advanced academic understanding and increased student awareness on current practices in hospitality industry. It also offer platforms for research students in areas including hospitality management and marketing, service operations and economics of hospitality firms. The supply and value chain in accommodation industry such as hotels, resorts and homestays; as well as food service industry such as restaurant, catering and other similar business outlets. Research areas also emphasis on operational issues in hospitality organizations, strategic management, service quality, customer experience, entrepreneurship and economic evaluation. Research students will be exposed to attending appropriate research classes as well as conducting research activities under the professional supervision of respective research expert in this field.
