¿Qué aprenderé?

This field focuses on principles of the five domains of animal welfare; nutritional, environmental, health, behavioural and mental. The core of the specialisation is identification, investigation, evaluation, proposal and management of animal welfare issues using indices of deprivation in the domains stated above. Research in this field includes effect of stressful and non-conducive environment on the physiology, reproduction, behavior, longevity, disease susceptible and resistances on animals. Candidates may also conduct studies to develop blood, physiological and physical profiles for determination of cruelty to animals. Other potential studies include welfare of wildlife by assessing the behavior, environment, adaption and survival in captivity.

The applicant should possess: a Master Degree (with coursework) in a relevant field with a minimum grade average of B, or a Master Degree with thesis in a relevant field, or an outstanding Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.750 (such an applicant may apply direct admission even without a Master Degree). Admission into the programme is subject to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute. An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements. English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 6.0; Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), Paper Based - 550; 400 for Band 4.0 only for Malay language, Arabic, Chinese Literature, internet-based test (IBT)- 79-80.
