The animal nutrition program emphasises research in farm, companion, laboratory, wildlife and improve growth efficiency and health of animals and to enhance human health attributes of zoo animals related to health. Research projects include feeding and management systems to animal products while sustaining environmental quality. The research ranges from applied problems in animal feeding to fundamental scientific questions of animal growth, production, and health. The research program focuses on impact of nutrition on health, immunity, digestive/metabolic disorders, reproductive performance, bacterial and parasitic diseases, organic toxins and stress nutrition, and feeding management of sick animals. Other research areas include feed evaluation, processing, and utilisation in efficient feeding systems and determination of nutrient requirements. The research also covers the precise ration formulation, phase feeding and use of feed additives for the maintenance acceptable performance of neonatal, growing, finishing and breeding animals.
