The Master of Philosophy, Field: Computer Science is offered on a full-time basis. The full-time programme is offered only at the UTM Main Campus in Johor Bahru. The duration of study for the full-time programme is subjected to the student’s entry qualifications and lasts between two (2) years to a maximum of four (4) years.
The programme is offered on full-time basis and is based on a 2-Semester per academic session. This is a full research programme. This programme allows students to conduct an independent research in an area of Computer Science, under the supervision of a member of staff with related expertise. The candidate is supervised by a lecturer. The directed research work introduces candidates to the process by which new knowledge is developed and applied accordingly. Area of study includes but not limited to networking and security, big data analytics, optimization, embedded system, image processing, biometrics and bioinformatics. Assessment is done by examining first assessment reports (research proposal), each semester’s progress reports, and thesis examination (viva-voce).

The minimum qualifications for candidates who intend to do a Master of Philosophy are as follows:
A Bachelor of Computer Science from UTM or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 recognized by UTM; OR
Candidates with CGPA< 3.00 with at least 2 years working experience in related area.
An International student candidate is required to have a minimum qualification of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 550 (or IBT 79) at IELTS Band 6 or Common European Framework of References Scale (CEFR) B2.
