¿Qué aprenderé?

The Discipline of Surgery provides a facility for medical students and surgical personnel wishing to undertake clinical and translational research postgraduate courses. Our staff are a committed and enthusiastic team of clinicians, researchers and educators. Our vision is to equip doctors with a practical academic and research skillset as a foundation for further surgical training and translational research.

The Surgical Research Laboratory is located in the Lambe Institute for Translational Research on the campus of University Hospital Galway. The research team works closely with Saolta clinical colleagues, academic researchers in the Colleges of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, and national and international collaborators.

The Discipline offers supervision in several speciality areas, e.g., cancer, vascular, orthopaedics. To pursue a research degree, potential candidates should first discuss the matter with a relevant academic member of staff.
