Psychology is the scientific study of mental life and behaviour. It involves areas such as Brain and Behaviour, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Psychological Research Methods.
If your ambition is to develop a career as a professional psychologist, our Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accredited degree is the first stage in professional training that will require an additional two to six years of study and supervised experience.
You will study Psychology along with two Arts subjects in first year, concentrating on Psychology only in second and third year.

FIRST YEAR
- Psychology plus 2 other subjects from groups 1, 3, 4, 5 (maximum one per group)
- 1 of your other subjects may be Critical Skills in 1st year
SECOND AND THIRD YEAR
You will concentrate on Psychology in 2nd and 3rd year
At the end of first year, students who do not wish to continue with MH106 have the option of continuing in MH101 with their other 2 Arts subjects, or with Psychological Studies and another subject as a Double Major.
