Programme Aims and Objectives
The EdD programme is aimed at experienced educators and professionals in education settings who aspire to extend their expertise in a particular Specialized Area, and their professional knowledge in a broad range of educational contexts through core courses.
Upon the completion of the Programme, students should be able to:
Special Education
The special education EdD will involve four independent study courses with the emphasis and application of knowledge and skills pertaining to learners with special educational needs. Each independent study course will link carefully to the candidates proposed area of study. The independent study areas will emphasize and demonstrate research skills and enable individuals to pursue their own interest within the broad framework of special education.

Applicants should normally hold a Master’s degree in the discipline of education or a cognate field relevant to their chosen Specialized Area, plus four years’ professional experience. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high standard of competence in spoken and written English. Applicants with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a university where the programme was not taught and assessed in English are normally required to demonstrate competency through one of the following minimum English language requirements:
