This one-year entry option allows students to explore program areas in the social sciences and humanities. They use this time to find out where their strengths and interests lie before applying to transfer to the program(s) they wish to pursue as their major or double major. In this first year, students take introductory courses in Faculty of Arts major programs in addition to writing, research, and critical thinking courses, and can also choose electives. By February of their second semester, students must apply to transfer to one of the 10 Faculty of Arts programs, or one of Ryerson’s three double major programs. All of their completed courses will be credited to their new program.
This is a Grades-Only program. Students are evaluated on the basis of academic achievement/grades only. Additional non-academic requirements are not required for admission consideration.
