Faculty members pursue research in six broad areas of mechanical engineering:

  • advanced engineering design and manufacturing
  • applied mechanics and machine design
  • bioengineering
  • control systems, robotics and fluid power
  • fluid dynamics, thermal sciences and energy
  • materials science and metallurgy

Research programs range from fundamental investigations intended to advance theoretical understanding to practical studies intended to solve current industrial and environmental problems. A significant number of research projects involve industrial partners who provide funding, expertise, and access to special research facilities.

A cumulative weighted average of at least 65% (U of S grade system equivalent) in each of the final two years full time study (e.g. 60 credit units U of S equivalent) of the undergraduate program. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Fully qualified: Overall score of 86 with minimum scores of 19 in each area; IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Fully qualified: Overall score of 6.5 with no score below 6.0 in each area; CanTEST (Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees): Fully qualified: Overall score of 4.5 with minimum scores of 4.5 in each area; PTE (Pearson Test of English): Fully qualified: Overall score of 63 with minimum scores of 59 in each area; University of Regina: Intensive ESL Advanced Level (ESL 50)l Plus completion of Academic Writing Elective A - Minimum score of 60% ; U-PREP 2: University Preparation 2 from the U of S Language Centre - Minimum score of 75% ; CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language): Minimum score of 70%, with minimum individual scores of 60
