Cannabis Applied Sciences is a one-year graduate certificate program designed for students with a background in science. Students will study analytical chemistry techniques, cannabis crop science, and microbiology. This program focuses on new product development and quality assurance while taking pace in cutting-edge labs to prepare you for a career in this growing industry

Your Learning Experience: In this one-year graduate certificate program, students will study analytical chemistry lab techniques, cannabis crop science, and microbiology in order to apply their scientific knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the emerging cannabis industry. This science-based program focuses on new product development, propagation, and quality insurance. Cannabis courses are developed in partnership with cannabis industry experts and will take place in cutting-edge labs to familiarize students with industry standards and environments. The program prepares students to analyze cannabis for quality, safety, and stability, and contribute to research and development, including the development of new cannabis products. In addition to scientific techniques, students will study the regulatory context of the cannabis industry, and develop their scientific communication and project management skills. Ontario College Diploma, Ontario College Advanced Diploma, Degree, or equivalent in a scientific discipline

English language requirement:

  • A Grade 12 College Stream or University Stream English credit from an Ontario Secondary School, or equivalent, depending on the program's Admission Requirements
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 570 for the paper-based test (PBT), or 88 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test with an overall score of 6.5 with no score less than 6.0 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years.
  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 70 with no score less than 60 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 59, with test results within the last two years
