Overview

Increase your knowledge in materials science expertise, conduct and disseminate advanced-level research in materials science.

Study the physics and chemistry of matter, the real-world applications in engineering, and how materials are used in the industrial manufacturing processes.

Gain a deeper understanding of the following approved fields of study: structure and properties, emerging materials and methods, interfaces and coatings.

Benefit from a unique perspective not available in other North American universities in this field as it applies to the mining and mineral processing sector.

Discover a variety of distinct, yet complementary, research areas and approaches in a wide breadth of research interests and academic disciplines.

Approved Fields of Study:

  • Structure and Properties
  • Emerging Materials and Methods
  • Interfaces and Coatings

Career Opportunities

Graduates can rest assured knowing there is a multitude of career options they can explore post-graduation. Some career options include, but are not limited to: materials engineer, metallurgist, product/process development scientist, research scientist (physical sciences), technical sales engineer.

Many careers can be found in the public and private sector.
