Earn an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science – Environmental Sustainability Degree (Specialization in Ecosystem Management) and an Environmental Technician Diploma at the same time with this four-year collaborative program from Lakehead University and Georgian College (Lakehead-Georgian).

The degree-diploma combination provides a theoretical and applied framework that complements the practical skills and scientific knowledge necessary to understand and monitor complex environmental systems. The specialization in ecosystem management will allow you to select additional topics complementing the environmental sustainability degree-diploma including, but not limited to:

  • forest ecology
  • plant taxonomy
  • field schools
  • environmental impact assessment
  • biogeography and conservation geography
  • soil science
  • environmental biomonitoring
  • geomatics
  • forest disturbance and recovery
  • ecological restoration

You will be provided with opportunities to develop advanced lab and field skills that will allow you to meet and adapt to the growing demands of a career in the environmental sciences.

Program-Specific Prerequisite courses completed at the senior level (e.g. Grade 12); Equivalent of a minimum 70% overall final average (Canadian). Achieve a minimum admission average of 70% based on senior level (i.e. Grade 12) or equivalent courses; Complete a minimum of four academic courses at the senior level or equivalent; Satisfy the program specific prerequisites by completing academic courses at the senior level or equivalent; and Obtain high school diploma from an accredited institution. Applicants are not required to complete an ACT or SAT. TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language (paper based): Minimum Score: 550 (no component score less than 50); TOEFL (computer based): Minimum Score: 213 (no component score less than 17); TOEFL (internet based): Minimum Score: 80 (no component score less than 19); IELTS (academic test) - International English Language Testing System: Minimum Score: 6.5 (no individual score less than 6.0); Michigan English Test (MET): Minimum Score: 85; CAEL - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment, CAEL CE - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (Computer Edition): Minimum Score: 60.

A minimum final average, based on the best six Grade 12 U or M courses, of 75% is required.
