A general major in the sciences, unlike a single discipline major, allows you to customize your course selection to your interests and abilities. Where you compromise depth of focus in one area, you gain breadth of knowledge in a few key areas, thus increasing your flexibility. This multidisciplinary approach provides access to the "big picture" or the wider context of any subject area. Conversely, the courses you choose can enhance your focus and provide a cross-discipline perspective on one particular theme.

Possible Careers

The discipline and the three streams that you choose to focus on will help determine the occupations for which you are best qualified. Below are some examples of where a General Major in the Sciences may take you:

Geography, archaeology, and computer science could lead to work as a computer modeler for archaeological research.
An emphasis on kinesiology, psychology, and biology might lead to opportunities in sports medicine, occupational therapy, or drug research.
Mathematics, physics, and computer science could lead to entry-level aerospace occupations, engineering, or government research

High school diploma, and either SAT or ACT results. For SAT, results from both SAT (formerly SAT I) and three SAT Subject Tests are required. English Language Requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) taken within the last two years, with minimum scores of: 550 on the paper-based TOEFL and 4.0 on the Test of Written English (TWE); 80 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT), with minimum scores of 16 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and a minimum score of 18 in Writing; Academic International English Languages Testing System (IELTS) test, taken within the last two years, with a minimum overall score of 6.0, and a minimum 6.0 in each band; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic score, taken within the last two years, with a minimum overall score of 54; Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment, taken within the last two years, with a minimum overall score of 60, with a minimum 50 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and 60 in Writing; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), with a minimum score of ‘C’; Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE), with a minimum score of at ‘C’; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), with a minimum overall score of 80, with a minimum 76 in each component, including the Speaking test.

Para estudiantes internacionales

Applicants who complete the equivalent of Grade 12 in high school (secondary school) will be considered for admission. Applicants who have completed secondary qualifications in other countries will be considered for admission under the High School Admission Route. Applicants to undergraduate programs who have completed post-secondary study will be considered for admission under the Post-Secondary Admission Route.
