Why study Food Animals?
This program examines how the animal agriculture (livestock and poultry) and food industries interface, through an understanding of animal and human disease, animal nutrition, microbiology, physiology, behaviour and production. You’ll work closely with agricultural animals and have many opportunities for industry interaction.
Taking this major allows you to complete a Pre-Vet Concentration.
Why study Animal Health at the University of Alberta?
The BSc in in Animal Health degree in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences will allow you to complete your pre-veterinary medicine requirements. Areas of study include the biology and behaviour of companion animals, the human-animal bond, and the safety and quality of the animal food supply. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills while completing real-world projects and case studies, and develop hands-on skills through access to an extensive network of animal research facilities.

PTE(Academic) : At least 61, with no less than 60 in each communicative skill
CAEL(Canadian Academic English Language assessment) Either CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer): A score of at least 70, with no band less than 60
