Why take the General route in Design?
The General route is the most flexible route in the Bachelor of Design program. In addition to the core Design curriculum, you’ll have the opportunity to select options from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science. You can also combine Visual Communication Design and Industrial Design courses with Fine Arts courses and options to gain experience in a variety of disciplines.

Our Bachelor of Design degree in the Faculty of Arts, one of the most innovative of its kind in North America, focuses on socially responsible and sustainable design in the areas of Industrial Design and Visual Communication Design. In addition to a specialization, you may choose one of the following program routes: Business and Marketing, Engineering, Computing Science, Social Sciences, Printmaking, or General Route.

Students applying directly from high school.
Admission is based on complete academic history and achievement in three main areas: Grades, English proficiency, and completion of required subjects.
English language Requirement:
TOEFL: iBT: At least 90 with a minimum score of 21 points in each section
IELTS(Academic): At least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
CanTEST(Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees): At least 4.5, with no part lower than 4
PTE(Academic): At least 61, with no less than 60 in each communicative skill
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language assessment) Either CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer): A score of at least 70, with no band less than 60
Duolingo English Test: 120 for English Language Proficiency, with no sub score below 100
