Other English Language Requirements accepted: The Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment with a minimum band scores of between 50 and 60 in each of the four skills tested (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking), with at least two band scores of 60 are the minimum requirements necessary for admission to the Marine Institute; A minimum score of at least 85 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB); Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST) with a minimum band scores of 4.5 in the listening comprehension and reading comprehension sub-tests and a score of 4 in writing are required to satisfy Marine Institute English proficiency requirements; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) with a minimum score of 85.Grade requirement: Overall B average in the required subject areas at the grade 12 or equivalent level.

Applicants shall have completed the requirements for a recognized high school diploma or equivalent.

English Language Requirements:

Duolingo English Test (DET) - A minimum score of 115.

IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 6.5, with at least a band 6 in reading and writing. General training results are not acceptable.

TOEFL - A minimum score of 79 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT) with a minimum score of 20 in reading and writing, and not less than 17 in listening and speaking.

(CAEL) Assessment - Minimum band scores between 50 and 60 in each of the four skills tested (reading, writing, listening and speaking), with at least two band scores of 60.

Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE) - A minimum score of 58 in each of the reading, writing, listening and speaking components of the PTE is required.

CanTEST - Minimum band scores of 4.5 in the listening comprehension and reading comprehension sub-tests and a score of 4 in writing are required on the CanTest.

MELAB - A minimum score of 85 is required on the MELAB.

Application Deadline:

Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply by:

March 1 for fall admission
Oct. 1 for winter admission
Feb. 1 for spring admission
