¿Qué aprenderé?

This qualification will equip you with high-level skills and knowledge using modern diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot modern-day vehicles.

International students will have the opportunity to complete the program on campus through practical training and assessment and on-the-job placements.

Opportunity exists for 18-month post-study work visa. This makes the student job-ready.

Course Overview

This course is perfect for those working/who have worked in the automotive industry or apprentices to formally recognise their competency via on and off-the-job learning strategies.

Students will learn a range of diagnostic and repair skills and procedures including:

  • complex diagnostic skills of different vehicle systems and engines (heavy vehicle, light vehicle, mobile plant)
  • analytical and testing skills

WORK PLACEMENTS:

Students are encouraged to seek industry work placement to gain the maximum benefit from the course. This is an opportunity to not only apply and practice the skills acquired in a formal work environment, but to improve their capabilities. As a result, the student will not only meet but exceed their learning outcomes.

To be awarded the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, the following units of competency must be achieved.

AURETU006 Diagnose complex faults in air conditioning and HVAC systems
AURHTE103 Diagnose complex faults in heavy vehicle diesel engines
AURLTB104 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle braking systems
AURLTD109 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle steering and suspension systems
AURLTE104 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle petrol engines
AURLTE105 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle diesel engines
AURLTX104 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle automatic transmission and driveline systems
AURTTR101 Diagnose complex faults in engine management systems
AURTTA118 Develop and carry out diagnostic test strategies

Professional accreditation and recognition

Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

English Language Proficiency - must demonstrate minimum language skills.

On-the-Job Learners

  • Access to workplaces with all the necessary learning resources

RPL Students

  • Demonstrate previous and/or current work history.
  • QLD Government Subsidised RPL and Gap Training (QLD residents only).

  • IELTS band score of 5.5 (academic test version) or TOEFL PBT score of 530 or TOEFL CBT score of 197 or TOEFL;
