Combine your passion for mathematics with the skills, knowledge and practical experiences required for secondary school teaching.

This four-year dual program allows you to combine your passion for mathematics with the qualifications to become a secondary teacher. You'll benefit from a thorough preparation for your teaching areas, combined with – and informed by – professional studies in the area of education.

The education component offers school-based learning and draws on the latest research into effective teaching methods, ensuring you graduate well-prepared for secondary school teaching, or training in business or industry. It's a challenging and rewarding career, with secondary school teachers in demand worldwide.

In the mathematics component, you'll choose from a wide range of courses in mathematics and its applications. In your first year, you'll study essential topics in calculus, linear algebra and differential equations. In later years you can select from more specialised courses that emphasise new ideas in mathematics and include recent applications in coding and cryptology, mathematical physics, mathematical biology, bioinformatics and finance.

Data Analytics and Operations Research

Data analytics and operations research are both rapidly growing disciplines that use a range of mathematical, statistical and computational approaches to big data.

This major applies scientific information and decision-making to business management. You'll also learn the skills needed to analyse large and complex data sets and to make effective decisions.

This major will prepare you to work in a range of roles in financial services, technology, engineering, science and research.

To be offered a place in an undergraduate program, you need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12, or a qualification equivalent to Queensland Year 12, with the required minimum entry score for the program you're interested in studying. English Language Scores: IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.5 AND a minimum score of 6 in each sub-band of Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening; TOEFL (Internet-Based-iBT): Overall score 87 with a Writing score of 21 and Reading, Speaking and Listening scores of 19; TOEFL (Paper-based): Overall score of 570 and a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) and 54 in Listening and Reading; PTE: Overall score of 64 with 60 in each communicative skills section. IB – International Baccalaureate: 25-42.
