Griffith University has one of Australia's largest and most highly recognised aviation teaching programs. The Bachelor of Aviation is a two-year, accelerated degree allowing students to progress more quickly into a flying career.
You will be introduced to the sciences underpinning the theory and practice of aviation. You will also study courses in areas such as navigation, safety management systems and the human factors in aviation. Through the Bachelor of Aviation, you will develop the skills needed for lifelong learning in the evolving aviation environment.
The Bachelor of Aviation together with self-funded flight training will allow graduates to be ready to work in the aviation industry as a commercial pilot.
The Trimester 2 intake is only available to students completing a Professional Entry pathway.
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Standard program
The program is available full-time on-campus at Nathan. The program is only offered in an accelerated mode over two years and includes 3 trimesters. Courses are offered on-campus at the Nathan campus although some courses may be offered in external mode or via the internet (fully online) with no requirements for on-campus attendance.
As a full-time student you will generally attend 15-20 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the trimester. Classes may be scheduled during the day and evening throughout the week.
Professional Entry pathway
The Professional Entry pathway is offered online. It is not available to International students studying in Australia on a student visa. Students will be able to access course materials, participate in learning activities, lodge assessment items and access support services via Learning@Griffith. Access to a reliable computer with internet connection is essential.

The Bachelor of Aviation will prepare you for employment in the aviation industry and, together with self-funded flight training, for work as a commercial pilot.
Our graduates have been successful in gaining a range of flying and management positions with organisations such as Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, Jetstar, Qantas, Regional Express and Virgin Australia as well as Air services Australia and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
You will also be able to apply the skills acquired in your degree to many areas of the aviation industry such as management, research and human resource management. You will find employment opportunities in charter work, regional airlines, flight instruction (theory and practical), aerial services (agricultural spraying, aerial surveying and photography), airline and airport management, research, human resource management and in government organisations such as CASA.

Standard academic entry to our undergraduate degrees requires completion of secondary school comparable to Australian Year 12 or equivalent academic achievement. Students from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Australia.
