About the course
Contemporary communication tools are transforming the way we think about our identities, relationships and communities, from language to screen, and from emoji to social networks. This major provides you with practical communication and digital media skills, along with essential theoretical knowledge, to help you engage with and develop a critical understanding of complex media environments.
Our students are trained to understand all aspects of media production, from the technical processes of filming, editing and designing to the economic and ethical issues that underlie media production in the digital era. We don’t just teach students how to ‘do’ media and communication work, but also how to analyse, critique and create as powerful communicators.
By engaging students in a wide variety of practical tasks, we develop their ability to manage projects, work in teams and solve complex problems. Students are also trained in essential communication skills such as presenting and writing. As a result, our graduates were recognised by the 2018 Good Universities Guide as having the highest employment rate and starting salaries in Australia.
However, getting students into great work is only the start of the story. Our goal is to help our students become versatile, responsible and creative communicators who will go on to make valuable and positive contributions to our world. If you think that sounds good to you, please join us.
